A considered conversation.

Case insights and Discussions are for original analysis and discussion of the US civil cases covered by Docketodds.

Our editorial policy

We don’t gamble on other people’s pain and suffering. That principle guides which cases we cover, even when only virtual dollars are involved. We focus on legal questions in US civil cases and exclude criminal cases and individual personal-misfortune stories.

Civil cases can still involve serious harm. Our coverage should help readers understand the law and the competing arguments, without turning someone’s suffering into entertainment.

Show your reasoning

Separate facts, allegations and opinion. Link to sources, acknowledge uncertainty and engage with the strongest opposing argument. Disagreement is welcome; personal attacks are not.

Keep it relevant and respectful

No advertising, referral promotions, scams, impersonation, harassment or personal information. No criminal cases, individual personal-misfortune stories or requests for personal legal advice. Do not claim professional credentials you do not hold.

Share work you have the right to share

Write or import your own plain-text contribution. Link to court materials instead of copying filings, transcripts or third-party articles. Files are read as text in your browser; we do not publish attachments.

Review before publication

Posts and replies are checked by Cloudflare AI for relevance, spam and community standards. Contributions that pass all checks publish automatically; flagged or uncertain submissions await a moderator. These checks do not verify legal accuracy or linked sources. Readers can flag published posts and replies for human review. No model can change balances, odds or settlement.

Your submissions page shows status and moderator notes. You can withdraw your work, report a published contribution or contact support through our privacy page to request reconsideration. Repeated abuse may lead to a posting suspension.
